The high-quality, handcrafted belt case made of strong blank leather stores the natural sharpening stone safely and always within easy reach on the belt (max. belt width: 38 mm). Leather case made in Germany, natural blank leather, nickel-plated brass press stud. The round shape of the natural stone makes it possible to work with circular rather than linear movements, which is more practical when sharpening an axe. The sharpening stone keeps the axe sharp and ready for use at all times, has fine removal properties and quickly produces a honing, polishing paste that gives the blade sharpness and a beautiful shine. The stones should be moistened with water before use. Approx. 1000 grit.
Finnish phyllite
In the village of Västilä in the municipality of Längelmäki (Finland), the stonemason quarries the primary rock, which was formed from approx. two-billion-year-old, former sea bed. Over millions of years, under intense heat and pressure, it has slowly developed into a qualitative stone with excellent sharpening properties. The main components of phyllite are quartz, feldspar and mica. The quality of the stone varies, so all the stones have to be worked individually by hand in order to sort out and separate harder and impure material. With phyllite, even very hard steel can still be ground and sharpened very well.
